JOY JOY JOY: Jenny Owens Young

May 7, 2009

jenny-owens-youngJenny Owens Young  is on tour with  Jukebox the Ghost and stopping off in town tonight.  I am sure they will be a hit but unfortunately have tickets for another show tonight. I discovered Jenny off her myspace page prior to Batten the Hatches album release.  She is going to be releasing a new album, Transmitter Failure, due out May 26th. She is a sweet and sexy personality and on stage has a very witty and a bit quirky personality. Her concerts are filled with lots of funny quirky jokes in between songs. Her new single, “Led To The Sea”, is out now. Check it out and by the 4 song EP.  The song  I fell in love with initially was a demo of “Voice on Tape” from Batten The Hatches album. She also came up with a sweet cover on that album of “Hot In Here”.  Another beautiful but more explicit song (showing her rough edge) is “What the Fuck Was I Thinking” to which we all can relate to.  Her newest single, “Led To the Sea”,  has more of a pop sound than her previous songs. But in all cases Jenny’s sweet vocals and great songwriting skills are her strengths which will bring you to love her songs. Her songwriting was recently recognized as American Songwriter Magazine’s Writer of the Week
