Kasey Chambers Covers and More
I first heard Kasey singing at a benefit concert in the forecourt of the Sydney Opera House Following the Boxing Day Tsunami, Chambers appeared at the Wave Aid fundraising concert in Sydney, to raise funds for aid organisations working in disaster affected areas. She was one of the first acts that I saw that evening but one of the most memorable. She came out singing the Cyndi Lauper cover, “True Colours”, it was an amazing cover of a timeless classic. She continues to impress me with her alt country roots music. Her voice is both sultry and sweet all in one note. Her solo work recently took on a duet with her partner Shawn Nicholson, another Aussie artist who has had a successful solo career of his own. Their most recent collaborative work, Rattlin Bones, garnered high acclaim as the recipient for the 2008 ARIA Best Country Album (equivalent to the Grammy’s in the US). In any case Kasey will always have a special place in my heart with my memory of her singing this timeless song, True Colours. The other cover song, Better Be Home Soon, a Crowded House cover, is also a favorite one of mine. She is well known for her own original work like the songs, “Pony” and “Not Pretty Enough”.

It’s the original Cyndi Lauper version you have there, not Kasey’s cover, FYI.
wow, not bad! & great covers
