Australian Powderfinger Pay Homage to Thailand’s Festival Of Lights

December 11, 2009

Directed by Natasha Pincus.
One of our favorite singles, “Burn Your Name” now has a hot new video. The song is off their latest LP “Golden Rule“, out now.

For this video, in October 2009, Powderfinger headed to Thailand to film this clip during the Yi Peng Festival, which takes place annually in Chiang Mai. As part of the festival, people light a lantern that is kind of like a personal hot air balloon and set it adrift, sending all of their troubles away. The lanterns’ launching is a celebration. There is a lot of love in it, fun and joy. A further extension of the lantern festival is fireworks mayhem – all through the festival, people launch rockets, sparklers – anything that razzles and dazzles. All night long the city’s soundscape is filled with the the bangs and crackles of fireworks booming and erupting.
