Archie Roach is an Australian musician. A singer, songwriter and guitarist, he endured a very hard childhood in foster care when he was forcefully removed from his Aboriginal family in a nationwide attempt, although a failed one, to finally integrate the native Australians (Abo’s) into mainstream modern Australia.   Archie Roach was a musician who was a powerful voice for Indigenous Australians, a storyteller in the tradition of his ancestors, and was a nationally respected artist.

Roach’s song Took the Children Away was a song Archie Roach sang and made popular about the forcible removal of the children of his people.
